What is the story/mythos behind Sleep Token?
For me, my journey started many years ago. I was a singles fan. I'm not sure when I started listening to them, but it was around the time Tomb came out. Either right before or right after. I would listen to their singles, but I never dove into the rest of their albums to actually get a bit more of their story. I then became enamored with the ARG for the Emergence release and decided to do a consumption on their discography.
In the last 3 weeks, I have chewed through their soundtrack multiple times. Always finding something new, until I found it.
For me, I had always had this lingering "what's so wrong with me?" type of feeling deep inside. Listening to Sleep Token's music gave me words for feelings I didn't know I couldn't name. And once I got those names, I ran with it. I have dealt with so much emotional and psychological torture that has haunted me for decades.
The truth behind Sleep Token is that it is whatever you are able to draw from it.
If you listen and hear a story about unrequited love, it's there. If you listen and hear a story about a Greek tragedy of a fallen God and the relationship they try to use to get back to the pantheon of Gods all while promising their victim that they will walk with the angels, yeah, it's there. But if you dig deep enough, you are going to find each song is about you. Top to bottom. You are here. You are listening.
There is a reason you are doing that.

That is because you recognize your story in their words and intrumentations.
Yes, it is there too.
